Gennadii Korolov is a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Kyiv).  He received his Ph.D. in History (Institute of History of Ukraine, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) in 2010. He spent the fall semester of 2018 working on the project, which focuses on the history of federalist projects In East Central Europe during the period of wars and revolutions (1914-1921). The core argument is that federalist ideas and projects developed as ideological utopias at the beginning of the nineteenth century and became instruments of Realpolitik at the beginning of the twentieth century, especially under the influence of the First World War. The project deals with an entangled history of the federalist ideas in East Central Europe and shows its evolution from nationalism via imperializing nations to ideological utopias.
