Svitlana Krasynska
Svitlana Krasynska is a social scientist, focusing her interdisciplinary research on the various aspects of civil society and informal civic engagement in Ukraine. Following two decades of executive, consulting, and research experience in the nonprofit sector and upon defending her PhD, Krasynska has held various research fellowships at Harvard University and taught at Boston University. She is the author and scholarly editor of several publications on civil society and democratization, including her co-edited volume, The Nonprofit Sector in Eastern Europe, Russia and Central Asia: Civil Society Advances and Challenges. In addition, Krasynska was the scholarly editor and translator of Yuriy Kostenko’s award-winning Ukraine’s Nuclear Disarmament: A History. At the moment, Krasynska is completing a research manuscript that investigates the manifestations, roots and impact of Ukraine’s informal civil society.  Simultaneously, she is conducting research on civic organizations focused on women’s issues and gender equality in Ukraine.  Like many other Ukrainians around the world, Krasynska is currently engaged in various formal and informal civil society initiatives providing war relief, support and advocacy for Ukraine.
